MACROCINEMA / 1997 - 2000 /
During the 1990s, the first decade of
the Net, films and videos started to be streamed over the Net.
With a very few exceptions, the new situation of distribution did not affect
the film language.
In 1994 I created little
movies
to explore the aesthetics possibilities of the early Net.
The next
step was to go from microcinema
to macrocinema
-- to imagine how moving images may look when the Net will mature,
when unlimited bandwidth and very high
resolution displays (for instance, 8000 pixels)
would become the norm.
Macrocinema is a set of experiments to explore one possible future of cinema.
